Ron Richards

Ron moved to Voorhees over thirty years ago with his wife Denise and they have literally lived all over town. Starting in the Partridge Run/Avian neighborhood, they welcomed their two children, Justin and Caitlin. A few years down the road Ron and his family moved into the newly expanding Sturbridge Lakes, and now, with his children grown, Ron and Denise live in the one of Voorhees’s newest neighborhoods, Centennial Mill.

In the late 1990s Ron had previously served on the Voorhees Township Committee. Before he came on board taxes were, much like today, at record highs. Democrats were in control of our government and were not interested in any new ideas from the outside. Ron had one plan that he thought would be great for the citizens of Voorhees: televising the Township Committee meetings. His idea was flat out rejected by the municipal government, so Ron decided to take matters into his own hands. He brought his video equipment and filmed and aired unedited meetings for anyone to see.

Running on a platform of greater transparency and tax cuts, Ron was elected to serve in 1997. In his first year, Ron created the first Township website, and finally did something no one thought possible. He supported and instituted the deepest tax cut to the local property tax rate in Voorhees history.

When Ron left office, taxes were still lower than the day he entered. Something no member of our current committee can say.

Ron has a bachelors degree from Trevecca University and continued his graduate level education at the University of Hartford. He is currently the marketing manager for A-1 Limousine in Princeton, NJ.
